Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to travel back in time to 18th century Scotland like Claire did in Outlander? I'm sure life was hard then but I would love to be able to go back just for a while to see what it was like. One of my favorite scenes in Outlander is … Continue reading Lallybroch Knitting Club
If you don't already know I am a huge Outlander fan. I've watched all the Starz episodes several times (so many that I've lost count) and I've completed reading (uh, well...listening to) the first two books. I'm currently reading (listening to) Voyager. (Side note: I love audiobooks.) That's why I'm so excited to be a … Continue reading My OUTLANDISH Collaboration
Ok, I'm going to admit something here. I'm not proud of it. But...we all have our flaws, right? And this is mine...well...one of them anyway. I am not monogamist... ...as a knitter. I have been having multiple affairs with several projects. At the same time. (What were you thinking?) If you follow me on Instagram … Continue reading Monogamy
If you follow me on Instagram than you will know that in 2016 I started a "Cozy Memory" or "Sock Yarn" blanket. I called it my Sunday Blanket because I would knit one square each Sunday morning while my husband and I watched Sunday Morning On CBS and enjoyed a cup of coffee. Well...then came … Continue reading 52 Weeks of Blanket Bliss
Yes...I know that's a quirky name. But I like to give my projects quirky names. I mean...there are 3717 Reyna shawls that have been knit on Ravelry but only 1 Reyna Merry Christmas Down On You. But...getting to my point of this blog post. IT'S DONE! Admittedly late, but better late than never I always … Continue reading Reyna Merry Christmas Down On You
Hello 2017! I'm actually happy to say good-bye to 2016. I don't usually have that kind of an opinion about a year. I mean...a year is just a year, a reference of time. But nothing seemed to really come out of 2016. I seemed to be busier than ever and honestly I don't have very … Continue reading What I’m Casting On in 2017 & a 2016 Recap
Wow! What a whirlwind Christmas was this year. Everything went so fast I barely remember any of it. I do remember rushing around like a crazy person. I don't remember ever being so busy during the holidays. Of course the holidays are always busy but this year just seemed literally insane. I usually try to … Continue reading Handmade Christmas – 2016
If you follow me on social media you have probably seen me post about Twigs + Twine Yarn. Twigs + Twine Yarn Co. is a new venture by my daughter, Sarah (@TheNaptimeKnitter on Instagram) and myself. We hand dye all of the yarn ourselves in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home. This is something we've been working on for awhile … Continue reading Twigs + Twine Yarn Coming Soon
Wow! Can you believe it's September already? Where did this year go? Summer's just about over but there's a few things I do love about September. One, is my granddaughters birthday is in September and I love any day I get to celebrate with her. It's also the beginning of fall - my favorite season: pumpkin spice lattes, halloween, knit sweaters and boots. What's not to love? In this very first episode of the "No Podcast" Podcast I'm sharing what's on my needles this month. (And if that title confuses you, it's ok. Read this post and it might clear things up. [as much as they can be cleared up].) So...let's get started, shall we.
Do you see that? Up there ↑ That luscious skein of yarn. Oh...wait. I shouldn't really call it yarn because that just isn't some ordinary skein. Oh no. That, my friends, is qiviut. Yup, that's right. QIVIUT. And this is the story of how this beautiful skein came to live with me. It's a love story.
